Kona Derby Series
About
The Kona Derby Series is a year round series of tournaments consisting of four individual competitions, three month long single flag fish competitions. It is the first time that Kona has seen a tournament of this nature and length! It features the four popular species Mahi-Mahi, Ono, Ahi and Pacific Blue Marlin.
The entry fees are inexpensive, but the rewards will be Awesome! Now anglers from all arenas can compete for cash and prizes!
The purse will be based on the level of entries, with 40 percent of all entry monies going to the angler of the biggest fish, 20 percent going to the Captain of the boat that lands the fish, 10 percent will go to a fund for Honokohau Harbor beautification and repairs, 10 percent to a select charity, and the balance, 20 percent, for administration of the series, unlike any tournament currently held!

The intent of this Series is to sway more visitors to choose chartering a boat as one of their main activities on their Big Island vacations as well as giving the local Kona fisherman an avenue to make their catch count for more than just food on the table!
Residents and visitors alike can register at the Marina Deli, at the harbor,and through this website.
Daily updates, i.e. photo’s, news, and other related material regarding the derby will be accessible through this site with the results of fish caught right here in our serene Kona waters!
